Cheaper editions of books
I was wondering if it is possible to make published books cheaper by adding advertisements into them like magazines do. I spoke to a few friends and they all welcomed it, if it drives the price down. This should also push down piracy of books.

Well, reading a book is different from reading a magazine. I can't imagine to see an advt in middle of a story.
That could be the reason, the publisher haven't tried it.
Rather they can add the advt as appendix.
Yes, but appendix can help people skip the advertisements, so it can be a catch.
The advertisements can be well placed and content oriented like google ads. For example in a book on OS, when talking about the VM, people with tools for VM tuning, etc can place their advertisements there
It sounds good for Technical books, but i don't agree for story books or Novels.
