Yes, I wish, we could have focused on such things in school. We learnt and applied several things, but I sometimes think I missed out on basics and fun stuff like the proof here.

Bhaskara's elegant proof is one of the example that shows the need for making the 'vedic mathematics' a part of the curriculum. teachers and elders should spare some time in telling the children about the good
contributions made by indians in the fileds of maths, physics.,. ---vikram(IITM)

Just saw Vedic maths method to multiply any number by 11. It is good for small numbers, but for 5 or 6 digit numbers the method: put a 0 to the right of the number and add the original number is less complicated.
